More Than A Walking Hat Rack

Most of us either have, or know someone who has, some sort of exercise equipment in their home such as a treadmill, stair climber, or exercise bike.  Exercise machines are a great to aid us with staying in good physical condition.  Most of us also do not, or know someone else who does not, use the machine for its created purpose.  Too often, these types of equipment end up becoming bulky clothes hangers or awkward hat racks.

I’d like for you to consider a powerfully analogy between yourself and one of these machines.  You and I are created for a uniquely powerful purpose.  We are created in the image of God for the purpose of friendship and fellowship with God.  Yet, too often we allow ourselves to be distracted or deceived into never fulfilling our created purpose.

You and I will discover and experience life’s greatest joys and truest riches as we fulfill our divine purpose!  Let your relationship with Father God be your priority in life.  Let Him guide you into your divine purpose. As you do, you will quickly discover immeasurable peace, joy, love, and fulfillment.

I encourage you to ‘be more than a walking hat rack.’  Follow God’s guidance and be all of who He has created you to be!

Object Lesson to Teach the Above Devotion to Your Kids

You will need to gather some items to absurdly represent the principle in the devotion.

Examples:
Roll of Duct Tape and Large Legal Pad – Demonstrate how to use as ‘sticky notes’
Old Desk Top Computer (or something else large and heavy) – Use for paper weight
Sliced Fingers from Rubber Glove – Use for rubber bands

Then compare the items you have with using the proper, more effective and efficient items such as rubber bands, paper weight, and sticky notes.
