Looking Over? or Overlooking?

2 Corinthians 4:17 says, “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”  Many times when we are experiencing troubles, or ‘afflictions’ as the KJV translates, we do not view them as light and momentary.  Personally, I can recall that, on more than one occasion, when the difficult situation was over, I could look back and more clearly see that it was not as overwhelming as it felt while I was experiencing it.

What usually happens when we experience trouble is that we allow that trouble to become as though it were a mountain in right in front of us.  All we can see– as far to the left, as far to the right, and as far upward is the problem.  We allow it to block our view of God’s blessings and interaction in our lives.

Have you been there?  Are you there now?  Have you been so focused on the difficulty that you are “OVERLOOKING” God’s power at work in your life?

During those difficult moments, begin “LOOKING OVER” or considering God’s blessings which are at work in your life.  Each blessing will become as a step in a supernatural stairway which enables you to walk right over what appears to be a mountain of difficulty.  ‘Overlooking’ His blessings means you overlook the way to victory.  Whereas, ‘Looking Over’ His blessings will show you a clear path leading to victory!

What Does It Teach?
This highly interactive “Kidmin” lesson incorporates all the excitement and challenge of the Olympics into the valuable truth that Scripture gives you 7 things to add to your faith so you will never “wipe out” in the race of life (2 Peter 1:3-11). Your kids can live their lives in Christ at Olympic levels, training themselves in their faith so they do not miss the prize (1 Cor.9:24-27).  In the Olympics, only 3 people can win in an event (gold, silver, bronze), but when you are running in the race of life as a part of God’s Kingdom, everyone can win!

It is FREE THIS WEEK!  You can see the other Olympic-themed lessons at:   http://childrensministry.org/estore/kids-ministry-lessons-with-olympic-themes/
