Answering Your Toughest Questions

Answering Your Toughest Questions – Encouragement from Pastor Gary

I was ecstatic as I sat in a meeting last evening with a core team who are planting a new church to launch in three months. I believe every person left that time of sharing with a bold, new vision to see God do a wondrous work through them in a new and growing community. There was a singular theme which flowed through the pastor’s comments. “God said it, so let’s believe it!” He may not have used those exact words, but his challenge to the team was to believe God for what He has promised and to trust God to provide the answers to all of their questions and needs.

This morning the verse from 1 Kings 22:5 was brought to my attention. “Jehosaphat said to the king of Israel, ‘First seek the counsel of the Lord.’” When I read this, I immediately thought of the “Solving Problems and Finding Answers” encouragement from three weeks ago which said, “When you need an answer, direction, or wisdom there is one great solution, “Come unto Me.” (Jesus)

The truth is that God is indeed waiting to “show you great and mighty things.” He desires to lead you and direct your steps. It is up to you to ‘ask.’

The full passage from Jeremiah 33:3 reads, “I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things which you know not.” For certain, you and I have tough questions which need answers. We face challenging circumstances in which we need direction and provision. So, how do we find the answers to these questions and needs? We move beyond the begging and pleading with God. We move from simply asking into the heights of a realm of communion and conscious fellowship with Christ. Charles Spurgeon expressed it this way. “If you would reach to something higher than the ordinary groveling experience, look to the Rock that is higher than you, and gaze with the eye of faith through the window of importunate prayer. When you open the window on your side, it will not be bolted on the other.”

The pastor mentioned earlier is leading his new church toward a childlike faith relationship with Christ to reach a community with the gospel and overcome any challenge that arises because they are reaching to something higher than ordinary groveling. They are looking to the Rock and gazing through this window of opportunity with eyes of faith.

Let me encourage you with the truth that you will receive answers to your most challenging and toughest questions as you first seek the counsel of the Lord!
