Hook Illusion

People have marveled at how acrobats walk across a rope stretched across the Niagara Falls, or cycle, juggle and perform acrobatics on a rope stretched across the roof of a circus tent. All these amazing feats are made possible by a simple manipulation of the center of gravity of the balanced object. Your challenge is to balance this hook shaped gimmick at the tip of your finger. Once you know how, you can easily balance it on the tip of your finger, or even the tip of your nose, or the end of a pencil.

I use this trick for teaching on "Having Balance in Your Life." There is also a lesson in the 50 Magic Object Lessons book that uses this hook.
