Personal Word of Challenge from Pastor Gary (You Can Also Use This As An Object Lesson)

I just returned to the office from a trip to visit with my family in northern Virginia.  Whew, it was cold!  While I was there, my father filled a flash drive for me with photos he had scanned.  There are photos of my childhood and my extended family on both my mother’s side and father’s side.  As I saw the drive lying on my desk this morning, a realization came to me that each of us have our own internal flash drive (as you may call it) filled with memories that are valuable to us.  Of course, there are also memories or moments that we would prefer to delete from that drive as well.  Though we cannot delete those uncomfortable memories as easily as you can delete a file from a flash drive, we can tuck it away so it does not distract us or keep us from experiencing the fullness of God in our daily lives.

God encourages us to think on things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy.  He specifically says this for a reason.  He desires for you to enjoy an abundant life in Christ.  Too many times we allow ourselves to be weighed down with the unpleasant memories that are stored on the flash drives of our hearts, when God says to set them aside and focus on His goodness, His kindness and His love at work in our lives.

I pray that the moments of God’s goodness which are stored on the flash drive of you heart permeate every thought you have today!  I pray for you to be overcome with the joy of the Lord as your focus is overrun with all things praiseworthy!

Be Blessed and Be a Blessing this Christmas Season!
